In an attempt to address the skills needs of regional Australia, Victoria's Great South Coast region has finalised a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) with Warrnambool City Council. As with other DAMAs (the Northern Territory, South Australia, Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Orana all have DAMAs), this means that employers in that region will be able to sponsor migrants to work in the designated regional areas.
It does not mean that just because your occupation appears on the DAMA list of occupations for that region you can apply for a skilled visa. You do have to have an employer who has offered you a job and is willing to sponsor you via the agreements available under the DAMA.
